IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar's direction: Punjab Police intensified actions for prevention of smog and environmental protection.

 

Under the direction of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is continuing its indiscriminate operations for the prevention of smog and environmental protection. Due to timely actions of Punjab Police, there has been a gradual decrease in smog intensity. Spokesperson Punjab Police said that in the last 24 hours, 38 cases were registered and 17 people were arrested during the crackdown across the province including Lahore. A total fine of over 10 lakh 20 thousands rupees were imposed on 598 individuals and 126 were issued warnings. 16 violations of crop residue burning, 500 of vehicles emitting high smoke, 02 of brick kilns and 01 of other places were reported. Totally 2995 accused were arrested and 3608 cases were registered in anti smog crackdown this year. A total of 09 crores, 54 lakh rupees were fined to 37928 people. Warning was issued to 6887 people. 1958 violations were reported for crop residue burning, 30538 for vehicles emitting high smoke, 347 for industrial activity, 1357 for brick kilns and 327 for other places. In the last 24 hours, 5896 excessive smoke emitting vehicles were challaned, 744 vehicles were impounded in police stations while 05 fitness certificates were suspended. This year, 08 lakh, 30 thousand 394 vehicles emitting excessive smoke on the roads were challaned, 01 lakh 68 thousand 12 vehicles were impounded and fitness certificates of 10 thousand 59 vehicles were suspended. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar instructed to further accelerate the anti-smog crackdown on highways, industrial areas, agriculture Land and other places. He directed that strict action should not be delayed against those responsible for violating smog SOPs under zero tolerance.
