Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Safe Punjab Vision: Punjab Police intensified crackdown on Criminal Elements
Police teams have successfully arrested over 196,000 accused wanted in various crimes as part of a robust campaign against criminal activities.
Under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's vision for a Safe Punjab, police teams are conducting a stringent crackdown against criminal elements. In these ongoing operations, Punjab Police have arrested over 196,000 criminals wanted in various offenses.This year, a total of 111,289 proclaimed offenders have been apprehended across the province, including 19,372 in Category A and 91,917 in Category B. Police crackdown has also led to the arrest of more than 58,000 judicial absconders, with 5,184 from Category A and 53,050 from Category B. Additionally, 26,864 target offenders (habitual criminals) have been arrested, including 11,605 from Category A and 15,259 from Category B. Eighty-six fugitives/ proclaimed offenders wanted for heinous crimes have been extradited from countries including the United Arab Emirates, Europe, and the United States, back to Pakistan. In Lahore alone, 59,000 criminals have been apprehended, comprising 22,031 proclaimed offenders, 25,808 judicial absconders, and 11,572 target offenders. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the police teams for their successful operations and instructed them to intensify the crackdown. He emphasized the importance of effective investigations to expedite cases and ensure strict punishments for offenders. IG Punjab directed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to personally supervise the operations against dangerous criminals.
