Good news for overage graduate constables and head constables of Punjab Police,
Graduate constables and head constables who were unable to take the Public Service Commission exam under the P-Cadet Scheme have been granted a 5-year age relaxation.
Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has taken another commendable step for the career growth of over-age graduate constables and head constables of the Punjab Police, under which the age limit for officers who could not appear for the Public Service Commission exam under the P-Cadet Scheme has been relaxed by 5 years. The age limit for appearing in the exams for the posts of Sub-Inspector and ASI has been increased from 35 to 40 years. Thousands of constables and head constables who became over-age due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors will benefit from this decision. Spokesperson for Punjab Police said that with the increase in the age limit, over 1,000 constables and head constables will be able to qualify for Sub Inspectors and Assistant Sub Inspector posts. A large number of constables had contacted IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar to highlight the issue.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar sent a summary to the Cabinet Committee for approval to provide relief to the affected police personnel. Following the Cabinet Committee's approval, the age limit for over-age constables for the PPSC exam has been set at 40 years for one time only. Previously, the upper age limit was 35 years, and thousands of police personnel became over-age for the promotion exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This age relaxation will be applicable only for this upcoming Public Service Commission exam. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that constables should prepare for the competitive exam to become ASI and Sub-Inspector, as the exam will be conducted soon. This step by IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has brought a wave of happiness among the constabulary.
