Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Vision for a Safe Punjab: Police Teams Launch Extensive Crackdown on Criminal Elements
Punjab Police is actively combating crime across the province, having apprehended over 181,000 criminals wanted in various cases.
In line with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's vision for a Safe Punjab, police teams are conducting a robust crackdown against criminal elements. The teams are actively working to suppress dangerous criminals across the province, having arrested over 181,000 criminals wanted in various incidents. This year, 99,683 proclaimed offenders have been apprehended in connection with various crimes across the province. Among those arrested, 17,290 belong to Category A, while 82,393 fall into Category B. The spokesperson for Punjab Police said that over 55,000 judicial fugitives have also been arrested, including 4,858 from Category A and 50,979 from Category B. During operations, more than 26,000 target offenders (habitual criminals) were also taken into custody, comprising 14,819 from Category A and 11,268 from Category B. Additionally, over 83 proclaimed offenders wanted for serious crimes have been extradited from abroad to Pakistan. In the provincial capital, Lahore, a total of 57,000 criminals have been apprehended, including 21,306 proclaimed offenders, 24,767 judicial fugitives, and more than 11,000 target offenders. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the police teams for their successful operations and instructed them to intensify the crackdown further. He emphasized the importance of effective investigations to expedite case resolutions and ensure appropriate punishments for criminals. IG Punjab also directed RPOs and DPOs to personally oversee the crackdown on dangerous criminals and regularly submit performance reports to the Central Police Office.
