Punjab Police's Intensive Crackdown on Heinous Crimes Continues Across the Province, Including Lahore

On the directives of Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is conducting a vigorous crackdown against heinous crimes across the province. As a result, thousands of suspects involved in serious offenses such as robbery, murder, rape, and kidnapping have been apprehended this year. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, 245 suspects involved in double or multiple murders, 245 in robbery-cum-murder cases, 1,198 in gang rape, and six suspects in rape-cum-murder cases have been arrested across the province, including Lahore. Spokesperson further said that police teams have also arrested 112 suspects involved in kidnapping for ransom, 2,069 suspects implicated in child abuse/sodomy with minor, and 1,016 accused involved to missing and abducted children cases. In the provincial capital, an intensive crackdown is ongoing, resulting in the arrest of hundreds of suspects, including 14 involved in double or multiple murders, 19 in robbery-cum-murder, 41 in gang rape, and 180 in child abuse cases. Moreover, in Lahore, six suspects involved in kidnapping for ransom and 352 connected to cases of missing and abducted children have been apprehended. IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has directed the continuation of the crackdown to further reduce serious crimes. He instructed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to personally supervise the crackdown on serious and organized crimes, ensuring that habitual and professional criminals receive stringent punishments through effective investigations and timely case proceedings. He also directed that performance reports be regularly submitted to the Central Police Office.
