Punjab Police Special Operations Cell Achieves another Success: proclaimed offender wanted in Murder Case extradited after 5 Years from Saudi Arabia
Proclaimed offender Qamar Abbas had been wanted by Mandi Bahauddin police for 5 years; this year, the total number of fugitives arrested from abroad reached 82.
Under the directive of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police continues its crackdown on the arrest of dangerous fugitives residing abroad. In this ongoing operation, the Special Operations Cell of Punjab Police has achieved another significant success. According to the details, that dangerous fugitive Qamar Abbas, wanted in a murder case, was arrested in Saudi Arabia after five years. He had shot and killed a woman in the Pahrianwali area in 2019. The incident stemmed from prior disputes between the parties and a land occupation conflict. Qamar Abbas had been evading the Mandi Bahauddin police for five years. The Special Operations Cell issued a red notice for Qamar Abbas through Interpol, leading to his arrest by Saudi police, who subsequently handed him over to Punjab Police at Lahore Airport. Punjab Police spokesperson said that the total number of dangerous fugitives arrested from abroad this year has now reached 82. These criminals were wanted in serious cases, including robbery, murder, kidnapping, and fraud etc.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar appreciated the RPO Gujranwala and DPO Mandi Bahauddin for the successful arrest of the dangerous fugitive. He instructed that legal proceedings be completed promptly to ensure the accused receives appropriate punishment. Dr. Usman Anwar further said that with the assistance of FIA and Interpol, efforts should be intensified to apprehend other dangerous fugitives, bring them back to the country, and ensure they face severe penalties in court.
