Under the supervision of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is actively working to protect precious human lives from the dangers of kite flying and metallic strings. A crackdown under the Anti-Kite Flying Act is ongoing without interruption across all districts of the province, including Lahore. Spokesperson for Punjab Police said that during the crackdown this year, 11,787 accused have been arrested and 11,177 cases have been registered. From the accused possession 34,000 metallic strings and reels, as well as over 500,000 kites, have been recovered. In the provincial capital, the Anti-Kite Flying Act crackdown has resulted in the arrest of 2,633 suspects and the registration of 2,570 cases. In Lahore, 2,301 metallic strings and over 50,000 kites were confiscated from the possession of suspects.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has instructed RPOs and DPOs to enhance the effectiveness of the crackdown against kite flyers, ensuring strict legal action against the production, use, and sale of metallic strings and kites. IG Punjab said that those who endanger human lives are not deserving of any leniency, and elements involved in the online trade of metallic strings and kites should be brought to justice with zero tolerance.
