Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Safe Punjab Vision: Punjab Police intensified the crackdown against Illegal Weapons

As part of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Safe Punjab Vision, a strict crackdown on illegal arms is underway by the Punjab Police across the province. Police teams are tirelessly working day and night to cleanse all districts of the province, from illegal weapons. During this special campaign, thousands of dangerous firearms, bullets, and cartridges have been seized this year. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, a total of 1,249 Kalashnikovs, 34,647 pistols, 2,705 shotguns, 2,440 rifles, 596 revolvers, and over 252,135 bullets and cartridges have been recovered across the province. In Lahore alone, 117 Kalashnikovs, 7,148 pistols, 506 rifles, 276 shotguns, and 62 revolvers, along with over 40,000 bullets, were recovered.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has also directed strict legal action against those promoting weapons on social media and engaging in aerial firing. IG Punjab directed that the process of inspecting licenses and stocks of dealers involved in the arms trade should be carried out regularly. RPOs and DPOs should send weekly reports about the crackdown on illegal arms to the CPO, and strict legal action should be taken without delay for all violations of given SOPs.
