Positive results of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Vision of Crime-Free Punjab: Record Decrease in heinous crimes in sheikhupura region

Police crackdown on criminals in Sheikhupura has led to a record 45% decrease in serious crimes.

The ongoing crackdown aligned with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's vision of a Crime-Free Punjab is yielding significant positive results. Punjab Police have reported a historic reduction in serious crimes within the Sheikhupura region, achieving a remarkable 45% decrease. Under the leadership of RPO Athar Ismail, Eagle Squad has been established across all three districts, leading to improved response times for emergency calls at 15 helpline. Compared to 2023, incidents of robbery and theft have plummeted by 45%, while vehicle thefts have decreased by 13%. In addition, a comprehensive operation targeting drug dealers and illegal arms holders has resulted in a 37% increase in registered cases over the previous year. The operation has successfully seized over 3,000 kilograms of charas, 28 kilograms of heroin, 9 kilograms of ice, 154 kilograms of opium, and 65,000 liters of alcohol. Three police officers embraced martyrdom and sacrificed their lives during confrontations with armed criminals, and 21 officers were injured in the line of duty while safeguarding the community. RPO Athar Ismail emphasized that the proactive measures against criminal activities will persist under the Punjab Chief Minister’s Crime-Free Punjab initiative, reinforcing that the safety of citizens and the eradication of crime remain the highest priorities.
