Punjab Police's Mission to Strengthen Provincial Border Check Posts: Progress Reviewed in Video Link Meeting
Ensure Effective Prevention of Weapon and Terrorism Material Transport through Tunssa Ghazi Ghat and Mithan wala Bridge, IG Punjab
Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar has emphasized that Punjab Police's border and riverine checkpoints are the first line of defense against terrorists. These checkpoints play a crucial role in combating smuggling and illegal activities. Dr. Usman Anwar instructed that the prevention of weapon and terrorism material transport through Tunssa Ghazi Ghat and Mithan wala Bridge must be ensured, with timely and effective countermeasures based on ground realities and intelligence reports. He added that the riverine checkpoints are being further strengthened with modern resources and infrastructure development. Personnel at these checkpoints have been equipped with bulletproof vests, helmets, modern vehicles, and logistics. Dr. Usman Anwar also directed all DPOs to regularly inspect border and riverine checkpoints, and to improve the quality of facilities and resources for the stationed personnel. These remarks were made during a video link meeting chaired at the Central Police Office. DPO of Rajanpur provided a briefing on the deployment, facilities, resources, and challenges at the checkpoints. Dr. Usman Anwar encouraged the personnel to carry out their duties with enthusiasm and commitment.
Punjab Police's mission to strengthen provincial border checkpoints is progressing towards completion. Under the leadership of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, regular video link meetings are being held with officers and personnel stationed at these checkpoints. DPO of Rajanpur, Captain (Retd) Dost Muhammad, and the in-charges and staff of the Nowshera Sharqi and Sontra checkpoints participated via video link. The meeting also included DIG Operations Punjab Waqas Nazir and DIG Establishment I Suleman Sultan Rana.
