722 Arrested, 930 Cases Registered During Anti-Smog Operations This Year: Punjab Police Spokesperson
Under the directives of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is actively working to protect the environment and prevent smog. Operations are ongoing across the province, including Lahore, targeting vehicles, factories, and kiln owners contributing to smog. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, during this year's anti-smog operations, 722 individuals have been arrested, and 930 cases have been registered. IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has instructed the intensification of the crackdown against smog, particularly on highways and in industrial areas, calling for increased action against smog-causing vehicles using Safe City camera monitoring. He also directed the Punjab Highway Patrol and Traffic Police to expedite efforts against polluting vehicles on roads. Dr. Usman Anwar further said that Punjab Police is providing full support to the Environment Department in its smog prevention efforts. Immediate action should be taken against vehicles, factories, and field burning contributing to smog across the province. He instructed field officers to enhance environmental protection measures, ensuring strict enforcement against the burning of crop residue, waste, and the activities of kiln owners responsible for pollution and smog.
