Drug-Free Punjab: Punjab Police intensified the crackdown against menace of Drugs

Under the supervision of Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar, the Drug-Free Punjab campaign is in full swing across the province. Punjab Police has intensified intelligence-based targeted operations against drug dealers in Lahore and throughout the province. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, in one day, 299 raids were conducted on drug dealers' hideouts, leading to the arrest of 116 accused and the registration of 115 cases. From the suspects' possession, 62 kilograms of charas , 01 kilogram of heroin, and 1,345 liters of liquor were seized. The spokesperson further said that since February, during the ongoing crackdown, 20,342 raids have been conducted across the province, resulting in the arrest of 23,822 accused and the registration of 23,247 cases. Over 15,000 kilograms of charas, 304 kilograms of heroin, 438 kilograms of opium, 111 kilograms of ice, and more than 1.774 million liters of liquor have also been seized. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed an acceleration of special operations against drug dealers and smugglers, emphasizing the need for targeted operations against the buying, selling, and online supply of modern drugs. He further instructed that daily search and combing operations should be conducted around educational institutions and hostels. IG Punjab has directed that all accused involved in the drug supply chain be brought to justice and given severe punishments, and that the anti-drug awareness campaign should be intensified.
