Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) on High Alert across the Province, August 2024 Performance Report Released
Under the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) is on high alert across the province, including Lahore. The force continues to prioritize actions for citizen service and protection, crime prevention, and adherence to laws. The PHP has released its performance report for August 2024.
According to the details, PHP checked 3.8 million individuals via the e-police post app, apprehending 601 wanted criminals and judicial absconders during the checks. A total of 1.5 million vehicles were inspected, leading to the recovery of 269 stolen vehicles/motorcycles. Under the road safety campaign, 235,000 traffic violations were ticketed. More than 45,000 overloaded vehicles were fined and subjected to legal action for violating axle load regulations. Fines totaling 99.1 million rupees were collected. Legal action was taken against 962 vehicles for illegal use of gas cylinders. Over 15,000 driving licenses were issued for public convenience. The PHP reunited 58 missing children with their parents and removed 291 temporary and permanent encroachments to improve traffic flow. Assistance and guidance were provided to 9,989 passengers, and 6,017 citizens received various police services at police service centers. 84 cases were registered for illegal weapon use, and 1,575 liters of alcohol and 10,225 grams of charas were seized from drug dealers.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the PHP force for their excellent performance and directed all teams to continue their field patrolling duties with increased diligence. He emphasized that all efforts should be made to combat crime and ensure the safety and service of citizens on the roads.
