Under the Supervision of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, police teams intensified the Intelligence-Based Targeted Anti-Narcotics Operations across the Province

 

Under the supervision of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, intelligence-based targeted anti-narcotics operations have been intensified across the province, including Lahore. As part of the Drug-Free Punjab campaign, police teams are actively fighting against the scourge of drugs across the province. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, 287 raids were conducted on drug dens in Lahore and across the province in a single day, resulting in the arrest of 120 accused involved in this vile trade. A total of 117 cases were registered. The raids led to the recovery of 90 kg of charas, 3 kg of heroin, 10 kg of opium, and 1,405 liters of alcohol from the suspects. 

Punjab Police spokesperson further said that since the crackdown began in February, a total of 18,459 raids have been conducted on drug dens across the province. During these operations, 22,477 accused involved in the drug trade were arrested, and 23,048 cases were registered. The operations resulted in the seizure of 14,667 kg of charas, 291 kg of heroin, 433 kg of opium, 109 kg of ice (crystal meth), and over 1.762 million liters of alcohol. IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has ordered further intensification of special operations against drug dealers and smugglers. He directed that targeted operations against the buying, selling, online supply, and use of modern drugs be accelerated. Additionally, IG Punjab instructed that daily search and combing operations be carried out around educational institutions and hostels, ensuring that all suspects involved in the drug supply chain are brought to justice and given severe punishments.
