Punjab Police's relentless crackdown to safeguard lives from the dangers of metallic kite strings and kite flying continues unabated.
This year, 11,689 accused have been arrested, and 11,113 cases have been registered across the province for violations of the Kite Flying Act, Punjab Police spokesperson.
More than 638,000 kites and 34,450 strings have been seized from the offenders, spokesperson Punjab police.
Punjab Police's crackdown across the province to protect lives from metallic kite strings and kite flying is underway across the province, with strict actions being taken against the preparation, sale, and use of metallic strings and kites. According to Punjab Police spokesperson, 11,689 accused have been arrested this year for violating the Kite Flying Act across the province, including Lahore. Police teams have registered 11,113 cases for these violations in various districts. Over 638,000 kites and 34,450 strings have been seized from the suspects. In the provincial capital alone, 2,546 accused have been arrested, with 2,480 cases registered against them. Approximately 50,000 kites and 2,230 spinning wheels were recovered from their possession.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has instructed supervisory officers to intensify the crackdown against those involved in this dangerous activity and trade. He emphasized that actions should be taken without discrimination under the newly approved laws. Dr. Usman Anwar also stressed that there should be no delay in taking strict action against the production, sale, transport, and use of metallic strings and kites. He added that habitual and professional criminals involved in this dangerous activity should be brought to justice and punished accordingly. Furthermore, he directed that those involved in the online business of metallic strings and kites should also be apprehended.
