Punjab Police Foils Another Attack by khawarji Terrorists in Dera Ghazi Khan’s Taunsa Sharif

 

Punjab Police thwart another attack by khawarji terrorists in Dera Ghazi Khan's Taunsa Sharif. In a fierce encounter, Punjab Police successfully neutralized two terrorists. The terrorists used hand grenades and heavy weaponry, leading to a violent exchange of gunfire. During the clash, SHO Wahwa, Sadiq Burmani, and police personnel Muzzamir Nazir were injured by gunfire. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar appreciated the police officers for their bravery in confronting and eliminating the terrorists. Dr. Anwar said that police and all agencies are on high alert, and terrorists will not be allowed to enter Punjab under any circumstances. IG punjab emphasized that Punjab Police will not hesitate to make any sacrifice to protect citizens' lives and property.

 

Punjab Police spokesperson said that four attacks by khawarji terrorists on checkpoints along the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border have been thwarted. Due to the threat of terrorism, checkpoints on the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border remain on high alert. According to the spokesperson, the khawarji terrorists intended to carry out attacks at police stations or other sensitive locations within Punjab. Intelligence agencies had informed of a potential terrorist entry into Punjab. SHO Wahwa, with his team, pursued the terrorists, who, upon seeing the police, attacked with hand grenades and heavy weapons. Police, equipped with bulletproof vehicles, helmets, and jackets, responded swiftly. Backup teams from the police and elite forces arrived promptly. After a severe confrontation, both terrorists were neutralized. The bulletproof vehicle was also damaged by grenades and gunfire. Upon receiving the news, RPO Dera Ghazi Khan, Captain (Retd) Sajjad Hasan Khan, and DPO Syed Ali arrived at the scene immediately. RPO DG Khan, along with the DPO, visited Tehsil Hospital Taunsa to meet the injured officers. A search and sweep operation by the police and other law enforcement agencies is ongoing in the area.
