Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Drug-Free Punjab Vision: Punjab Police accelerated the action to eradicate the menace of Drugs

 

Following the Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's vision for a drug-free Punjab, Punjab Police have intensified their crackdown to eradicate the menace of drugs from the province. Under the supervision of IG Punjab, targeted intelligence-based operations by the police have been accelerated across the province, including Lahore. Punjab Police spokesperson said that in one day, 313 raids were conducted on drug dealers’ hideouts across the province, resulting in the arrest of 133 accused involved in the drug trade and the registration of 133 cases. From the arrested individuals, 60 kilograms of charas, 6 kilograms of heroin, 3 kilograms of ice, and 1,901 liters of alcohol were recovered.

 

Spokesperson punjab police further revealed that over the past six months, 46,437 raids have been carried out on drug dealers' locations across the province. A total of 22,176 individuals involved in drug trafficking have been arrested, and 21,617 cases have been registered. From these arrests, over 14,000 kilograms of charas, 270 kilograms of heroin, 402 kilograms of opium, 100 kilograms of ice, and over 1.75 million liters of alcohol have been seized.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed to increased speed in special operations against drug dealers and smugglers. Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the need to intensify targeted operations against modern drugs, including online sales and distribution. He directed that daily search and combing operations be conducted around educational institutions and hostels, and that criminals involved in inter-provincial and inter-district smuggling be brought to justice with appropriate punishments.
