LAHORE: Multan police claimed on Friday to have arrested 17 members of five gangs involved in criminal acts including murder, robbery, house burglary and motorcycle snatching. Among those arrested are key suspects wanted for the murder of four people, including two women, and the injury to a station house officer (SHO) during a police encounter. Police also recovered stolen goods worth over Rs 55 million, including 69 cartons of mobile phones valued at over Rs 45 million, 13 motorcycles, 25,000 riyals and gold jewelry, Rs 170,000 in cash. Addressing a press conference, Multan City Police officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar said that they would continue to eradicate crime from the city. He praised the police teams involved in arresting the suspects involved in heinous crimes and handed over the recovered stolen goods to their owners.
