SARGODHA: Police claimed on Thursday to have seized a cache of prohibited bore arms while the suspected smugglers managed their escape firing on the raiding team. According to City ASP Abdus Sami Sheikh, the smugglers were in the process of transporting the weapons to other locations. He said some of the seized arms are banned weapons that cannot be licenced. A large consignment of prohibited bore ammunition was found concealed in sacks, ready for distribution. Acting on a tip-off near Sargodha city, the City Police Station and Urban Area Police Station conducted a joint operation, resulting in the recovery of seven prohibited SMG Kalashnikovs, 222 bore rifles, a 223 bore rifle, two 44 bore rifles, an M4 rifle, two 9mm semi-automatic pistols, three 30 bore mini pistols, three 30 bore pistols, twelve 12-gauge shotguns, a smart SMG rifle, and more than 1,200 rounds of ammunition. The arms smugglers managed to flee the scene while firing at the police.
