DERA GHAZI KHAN: Police claimed on Thursday to have arrested a suspect wanted in a number of cases during a shootout in Rajanpur. Suspect Akhtar, also known as Mithu Machhi, was arrested following a police encounter near Fazilpur railway station. Acting on a tip-off, the Rajanpur police learned of Akhtar’s presence in the area, accompanied by unidentified accomplices who were allegedly planning to commit a crime. On seeing the police, the suspects opened fire. During a shootout, Akhtar was injured, reportedly by the shots fired by his own accomplices. The police arrested the wounded suspect. According to a police spokesperson, Akhtar is a wanted criminal involved in several cases of robbery and other serious offences, all registered by the City Fazilpur police station.
