LAHORE: Police have completed security arrangements for the programmes held on the Independence Day. Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar said security would be on high alert for Independence Day celebrations. Senior police officers would supervise the security and traffic arrangements. Strict action would be taken without discrimination against those involved in hooliganism, one-wheelie, aerial firing, road blocking and harassing women. Dr Anwar urged citizens to fully enjoy activities while adhering to Islamic values and national culture, without compromising on decency. He emphasised that the police, Special Branch, CTD, intelligence agencies, patrolling units, Dolphin Squad, PERU, and traffic police would ensure the best possible arrangements. A spokesperson for the police said foolproof security would be provided for more than 450 programmes across the province. These include seven in the A+ category, 47 in the A category, and 370 in the B category. He said more than 30,000 police officers and personnel would be deployed for security and traffic management across the province. In the provincial capital, over 10,000 police officers and personnel would be deployed for security and traffic arrangements, he said.
