IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar congratulated the entire nation and police force on the 78th Independence Day.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has extended congratulations to the entire nation and police force on the occasion of Independence Day. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that Punjab Police reaffirms its commitment to protecting the lives, properties, and honor of citizens on Independence Day. 1,640 martyrs of Punjab Police in the line of duty symbolize our eternal love for the homeland. For the security, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan, we will not hesitate to make any sacrifice in future also. IG Punjab emphasized that every officer and soldier of Punjab Police will not shy away from sacrificing their lives for the nation and country. Dr. Usman Anwar further said that security has been heightened across the province, including Lahore, on Independence Day, and any nefarious intentions of the enemies will be thwarted. Continuous monitoring of all Independence Day celebrations is being carried out through CCTV cameras. While celebrating the Independence Day, citizens should not compromise on national dignity and decency. Dr. Usman Anwar warned that strict action will be taken against those involved in one-wheeling, aerial firing, hooliganism, and harassment of women and families.
Punjab Police ensured comprehensive security arrangements across the province on Independence Day. Security was on high alert in all districts of the province, including Lahore, with foolproof arrangements in place for Independence Day celebrations and citizens. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar stated that more than 30,000 police officers and personnel were deployed for security and traffic management across the province, including Lahore, on Independence Day. A total of 311 Elite Force teams, 163 Quick Response Force teams, 811 patrolling vehicles, and 1,460 motorcycle teams were assigned security duties. Additionally, 150 walk-through gates and 1,500 metal detectors were used to assist in security measures. All activities were being fully monitored through Safe Cities Authority cameras. District police teams, Special Branch, CTD, intelligence agencies, patrolling units, Dolphin Squad, PRU, and traffic police ensured the best possible arrangements. Strict action was taken against those involved in hooliganism, one-wheeling, aerial firing, road blockages, and harassment of women without any discrimination.
Spokesperson for Punjab Police said that 527 programs, including rallies and march pasts, were held across the province on Independence Day. Over 30,000 officers and personnel of Punjab Police were deployed for the security of these programs and the citizens. A total of 251 flag-hoisting ceremonies were held across the province, including Lahore, 44 rallies were conducted, and 11 walk marches took place. Public gatherings were held at 8 locations, 44 seminars, conferences, conventions were organized, 18 sports competitions were held, 91 functions took place at important government buildings, and 59 ceremonies were held at the graves of national heroes and martyrs. Citizens celebrated Independence Day with joy, in accordance with Islamic principles and national culture.
