IG Punjab pays rich tribute to the martyrdom of Constable Zia Akhtar.
On Pakistan 77th Independence Day, another brave son of Punjab Police sacrificed his life for the homeland. In the Jabbi Quaidabad area of district Khushab, Constable Zia Akhtar embraced martyrdom during a police encounter with proclaimed offenders. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar paid rich tribute to the martyrdom of Constable Zia Akhtar. IG Punjab said that Constable Zia Akhtar bravely fight and sacrificed his life in the line of duty, Punjab Police will never forget the supreme sacrifice made by this martyr on Independence Day. Dr. Usman Anwar assured that the welfare of the martyr's family will be fully taken care of. IG Punjab directed that the best care be provided to the injured SHO Rana Faizan and Constable Jamshed, ensuring that they receive top-notch medical facilities. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has also asked RPO Sargodha for a detailed report on the incident.
Spokesperson for Punjab Police said that police team conducted a raid in Dohakri village to arrest the wanted criminal Saif alias Saifu. During the shootout, Constable Zia Akhtar was martyred after being shot in the chest, while SHO Rana Faizan and Constable Jamshed were injured. In retaliatory fire by the police, the dangerous wanted criminal Saifu and his accomplices were killed. The funeral prayer of the martyred Constable Zia Akhtar was held at District Police Lines Joharabad, after which he was laid to rest in his native area with full protocol.
