Police on high alert after attack on picket

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Police have been put on high alert in Rajanpur after martyrdom of a policeman while defending his picket against the attack of bandits. On Wednesday, a policeman died while two of his colleagues were critically injured after armed bandits opened fire on a police picket in Pattan Lunda in Sonmiani, Rojhan Mazari. In response to the attack, Additional IG south Punjab Mohammad Kamran Khan and RPO DG Khan retired Capt Sajjad Hasan Khan conducted a thorough inspection of Rajanpur’s Rojhan Tehsil on Thursday. Their focus was on the riverine area, the Inter-Provincial Check Post Shahwali, and the security of the Parco pipeline along the Indus Highway. During the visit, officials assessed the overall law and order situation and reviewed existing security measures. Rajanpur DPO retired Capt Dost Mohammad briefed the higher authorities on the situation in the Kutch area. The additional IG reviewed security processes, including the Smart Verification and Alert System (SVAS) and Anti-Vehicle Car Lifting System (AVLS) and emphasised the need for continuous monitoring through CCTV cameras. Orders were issued to keep all police campuses, pickets, and stations on high alert. RPO Sajjad Hasan Khan commended the police for their bravery and dedication in maintaining peace in the riverine area, assuring them of full support in their ongoing efforts to combat crime.
