In order to review the law & order and crime situation of south Punjab, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mohammad Habib ur Rahman has reached Multan, today.

While addressing a high level meeting held at the office of RPO Multan, Mubarak Ahmad Athar,  IGP said that to control the street crimes a latest and comprehensive strategy has been chalked out and for nabbing the terrorists strict legislation is underway. He said that to root out the corruption from the police department and provision of free and fair justice to the people are his prime priorities. On corruption complaints, provincial police chief has suspended DSP Dehli Gate (Multan Circle) Sadat Mehdi, SHO (PS Cantt Multan) Inspector Rao Tariq and Incharge Investigation (PS Lohari Gate Multan) Inspector Rai Asghar. Mohammad Habib-ur-Rahman further said that approach culture will be discouraged in police department especially for transfers and postings.

IGP further said that police officers / officials can play vital role in bridging the gape between police and public by providing them timely justice and ensuring the lives and properties of citizens. He said that due to lack of coordination between the public and police, Police Stations become terror symbol for respectable citizens. He said that there is no favour and concession for subversive elements in his dictionary. The PPO directed the RPOs, CPOs, DPOs, DSPs and SHOs to hold open courts regularly and their mobile phones should remain switched on round the clock, so that constant liaison with the citizen could be possible.

In the second Phase of his tour, IGP will visit D.G Khan Region tomorrow.
