Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's directive: Punjab Police's intensified the crackdown against electricity thieves.

Following the directive of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police intensified the crackdown against electricity thieves. This year, 63,137 cases have been registered against those involved in electricity theft across the province, including Lahore. In the police crackdown, 33,845 accused have been arrested throughout the province. challans have been completed for over 39,300 cases of electricity theft, with 5,295 offenders convicted for causing losses to the national exchequer. Punjab Police spokesperson reported that in the provincial capital, 18,479 cases have been registered, and 18,250 suspects have been arrested.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed supervisory officers to enhance the effectiveness of the anti-electricity theft campaign by collaborating with LESCO and other institutions in all districts. IG Punjab emphasized the need to improve the challan submission rate for electricity theft cases. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed that efforts be intensified to arrest maximum proclaimed offenders . He instructed that a stringent action plan be adopted in collaboration with LESCO and relevant officers to recover losses from electricity thieves. Furthermore, he emphasized the need to maintain a zero-tolerance approach and continue indiscriminate actions against those causing damage to the national exchequer.
