NAROWAL: Sialkot police arrested a suspect involved in a robbery and murder within six hours on Monday. The stolen cash and modern automatic weapons were also recovered from the suspect. A police team, including SP Ghulam Abbas, Deputy Superintendent of Police Tariq Mahmood, and Inspector Mian Abdul Razzaq, gathered initial evidence from the crime scene. The team traced suspect Wasi Hassan, who had killed Syed Artza Haider, coordinator for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), when he resisted the robbery. Wasi was arrested at Chondah Town.
During a press conference, SP Abbas said that Wasi had previously worked at the BISP franchise and was dismissed from his job six months ago. He is also a close relative of the deceased. The robbery was premeditated, and when Artza resisted, Wasi shot him in the head, resulting in his death. The police team recovered Rs8.1 million and modern automatic weapons from the suspect. DPO Mohammad Hasan Iqbal has announced certificates of appreciation and cash rewards for the investigation team for their excellent professionalism in solving the case promptly.
