BAHAWALPUR; Vehari police claimed on Saturday to have recovered from Rawalpindi businessman Muhammad Sharif of Mailsi 10 hours after his alleged kidnapping for ransom. According to PRO Adnan Tariq, Sharif’s son, Muneeb informed District Police Officer Mansoor Aman about the alleged abduction. The kidnappers had sent a video of Sharif along with a ransom demand to Muneeb’s mobile phone. In response, the police formed a team and launched an operation. Using geofencing and mobile tracking system, the police traced the culprits to Rawalpindi. The police team raided the identified location and successfully recovered Sharif. However, the suspects managed their escape and the Rawalpindi police have been asked to assist in their capture. The trading community welcomed the prompt police action.
