BAHAWALPUR: A police party was allegedly attacked by a mob near Janowala Chowk in the limits of Nowshehra Jadid police station, about 40km from here, on Thursday, freeing a suspect in their custody. According to police spokesperson, a police party on a tip-off conducted a raid on a premises near Janowala Chowk to arrest a suspect, Arshad, wanted in several cases of dacoity and theft. The police party managed to arrest Arshad, but a mob comprising men carrying firearms and clubs, attacked the policemen and freed the suspect, who fled away with the attackers. The police have launched a search for the attackers and the suspect.
