During the current year, 59,000 cases were registered against electricity thieves, 31,227 suspects arrested, spokesperson Punjab Police.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police is ensuring a relentless crackdown against electricity thieves across Punjab and law breakers who are damaging the national treasury are being brought in the grip of law. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that during the current year, 59,000 cases were registered against electricity thieves in the entire province including Lahore, 31 thousand 227 suspects involved in electricity theft were arrested and challans of more than 36 thousand 119 cases of electricity theft were completed. 4744 accused who caused damage to the national treasury were convicted. Spokesperson of Punjab Police highlighted that in Lahore alone, 17,555 cases have been registered, leading to the arrest of more than 17,000 accused involved in electricity theft.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has instructed to intensify the crackdown against electricity thieves across the province and said that actions should be continued without discrimination while adopting zero tolerance against the accused who have caused damage to the national treasury. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that police teams in every district are providing support in the ongoing special campaign against electricity theft, all supervisory officers should make ongoing crackdown against law breakers more effective under personal supervision.
