IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar's Special Video message on New Safe City Projects in Various Cities of the Province
Under the supervision of Chief Minister Punjab, Safe City projects in 18 cities of Punjab will be completed this year, IG Punjab.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, in a special video message about the new Safe City projects under completion in various districts of the province, said that Punjab Police ensured excellent security arrangements for more than 10,700 processions and over 38,000 gatherings during the first decade of Muharram. Over 135,000 officers and personnel performed their duties on high alert.On Ashura, processions and gatherings in all major districts of Punjab were monitored through Safe City cameras. Districts such as Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Kasur, and Pakpattan are interlinked with Safe City Lahore through modern cameras, where sensitive gatherings and processions were continuously monitored. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that this year, Safe City projects in 18 cities of Punjab will be completed and according to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif by 30th June 2025, almost every city in Punjab will become a Safe City. Dr. Usman Anwar mentioned that with the help of modern policing systems including artificial intelligence, immediate actions are being taken for control crimes, traffic management, and address other legal violations. Along with video monitoring, advanced policing systems for face trace and number plate recognition are interlinked with the data bank. Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted that the Safe City network is also providing significant assistance in important matters such as actions against excess smoke emitting vehicles, encroachments, smog, and cleanliness arrangements. During Eid-ul-Adha, the monitoring of 1,067 cameras at various locations helped in managing cleanliness arrangements. Dr. Usman Anwar said that the mega project of Safe Cities in all cities is being completed by the Punjab government, PITB, and Punjab Police together. The software used in the new Safe Cities is being developed in-house, resulting in savings of billions of rupees.
