Following the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Drug Free Punjab vision, Punjab Police's uninterrupted crackdowns are underway across the province. On the directives of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, swift intelligence-based operations against drug peddlers, dealers, and smugglers are being carried out across the province, including Lahore. Spokesman of Punjab Police said that during last day 263 raids were conducted on drug dens across Punjab, including Lahore. These operations resulted in the arrest of 105 suspects involved in drug trade against whom 105 cases have been registered. Seized from the suspects were 61 kilograms of charas, 1 kilogram of heroin and 959 liters of liquor.

Punjab Police Spokesman further said that since February 26, ongoing anti-narcotics operations have resulted in over 36,000 raids across the province, leading to the arrest of 17,435 accused involved in drug trafficking. Against these suspects, 16,945 cases have been registered. Seized items include 10,172 kilograms of charas, 183 kilograms of heroin, 274 kilograms of opium, 53 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine), and over 1,695,000 liters of alcohol. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed RPOs and DPOs to intensify anti-drug operations, emphasizing regular search and combing operations in hot spot areas. Dr Usman Anwar instructed that those involved in the illicit trade of modern synthetic drugs should be swiftly brought to justice. Dr. Usman Anwar further emphasized the need to apprehend individuals involved in inter-provincial smuggling and ensure they face appropriate legal consequences, especially those facilitating drug distribution in educational institutions and engaging in online drug trade.
