More than 48 thousand 500 police officers & officials performed the security duties of 295 processions and 3833 Majalis of Muharram. IG Punjab
On the instructions of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, on the sixth day of Muharram, the Punjab Police remained on high alert throughout the province and the police teams performed the security duties of processions and majalis with religious enthusiasm. Spokesman Punjab Police said that on the sixth day of Muharram, 3833 Majalis and 925 processions were held across Punjab including Lahore. More than 48,500 officers and personnel performed the security duties of these religious programs of Muharram throughout the province. More than 28,000 police officials , elite force and volunteer were deployed for the security of 3833 majalis while more than 20,000 officers and officials were deployed for the security of 925 moharram processions. Similarly, the security duties of 56 processions and 416 assemblies held in the provincial capital were also performed by police teams on high alert. Traffic police, other field formations and volunteers also provided support in the security arrangements of the majalis and processions. On the directive of IG Punjab, all RPOs and DPOs are personally overseeing Muharram security arrangements. IG Punjab instructed officers to maintain extreme vigilance and emphasised that no compromises should be made on the security of majalis, processions, and citizens. IG Punjab further directed that security arrangements for majalis and processions should be monitored moment by moment through control rooms and CCTV cameras with full diligence.
