On the fourth day of Muharram, 32,291 officers and personnel performed security duties for 268 processions and 3,776 majalis throughout the province.
On the instructions of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, on the fourth day of Muharram ul haram, police teams ensured strict security arrangements throughout the province, including Lahore. RPOs, DPOs and other senior officers went out in the field and inspected the security arrangements of sensitive processions and majalis. Spokesman of Punjab Police said that on the fourth Muharram, 268 mourning processions and 3776 majalis were organized across the province, whose security duties were performed by 32291 police officers and officials. On the fourth day of Muharram, 17 processions and 400 majalis were held in the provincial capital, whose security duties were performed by more than 03 thousand officers, officials and volunteers.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that security is on high alert throughout the province during the month of Muharram, Senior officers including RPOs, DPOs are reviewing the security arrangements on Imambargahs, procession routes and majalis.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that women police officers have been appointed for the security of women mourners. Implementation of Section 144 is being ensured in all districts on the direction of the Punjab Government. Aerial firing, display of weapons, promotion of hateful material, incitement, etc. are strictly prohibited. With the help of cameras of Safe Cities Authority, district administration, monitoring of security arrangements of majalis and processions is being ensured. IG Punjab said CTD, Special Branch, Traffic Police, Dolphin Squad, PRU and other field formations are deployed on Muharram security. Indiscriminate actions are being taken against those guilty of promoting hateful content on social media. Dr. Usman Anwar mentioned that the Muharram control rooms established in all the districts are connected to the central control room of the Central Police Office and continuous monitoring of the security arrangements is going on of all the processions and majalis.
