Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, visited the routes of Imambargahs and mourning processions in Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan regions. RPOs of Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan briefed IG Punjab on security arrangements for Muharram. IG Punjab said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, security arrangements for Muharram are being reviewed across Punjab. IG Punjab said that with the cooperation of community leaders, administration, and security agencies, a peaceful Muharram will be ensured. IG Punjab further mentioned that with the assistance of provincial ministers, religious scholars, armed forces, Rangers, and security agencies, the best arrangements have been implemented. Only under extreme necessity will there be partial restrictions on double riding and mobile services during specific days and times.IGP Punjab said that provision of thermal imaging cameras, armed thermal imaging drones, and APCs for Dera Ghazi Khan Police is a priority. IG Punjab also said that efforts to strengthen border posts, Border Military Police, along with the best training, promotion, and welfare of the force are continuing. Service delivery has been improved for people through khidmat centers and Special Initiative Police Stations.
