Security and protection of rights of all foreign nationals, including Norwegians, is top priority, Additional IG Welfare & Finance Riaz Nazir Gara
Second Secretary Azra Kurtovic of the Royal Norwegian Embassy visited the Central Police Office accompanied by her delegation. The Norwegian delegation met with Additional IG Welfare and Finance, Riaz Nazir Gara. Norwegian embassy's police liaison officer, Per Martin, along with other officers, was part of the delegation. During the meeting, discussions focused on mutual interests, including the security of Pakistani-Norwegian citizens, and consensus was reached on addressing mutual challenges and issues through mutual consultation. The Norwegian delegation was briefed on infrastructure development, IT reforms, and public service delivery initiatives launched by Punjab Police.
Additional IG Welfare and Finance, Riaz Nazir Gara, briefed the Norwegian delegation about the provision of policing services through Virtual Women Police Stations, Police khidmat Centers, and initiatives for the assistance and rehabilitation of affected individuals. Additional IG Punjab mentioned that Punjab Police has provided assistance to over 30,000 individuals from vulnerable communities through Tahaffuz Centers.
Additional IG Welfare and Finance Riyaz Nazir Gada briefed the Norwegian delegation about the provision of services through the Virtual Women Police Station, Police Service and Protection Centers, relief and rehabilitation measures for the victims. Additional IG Welfare said that Punjab Police has provided assistance to more than 30,000 people belonging to the weaker sections through tahaffuz centers, more than 370 MOUs have been signed with various institutions for the relief and rehabilitation of the weaker sections of the society. Additional IG Welfare and Finance Riaz Nazir Gara mentioned that under the vision to empower women, Punjab Police has increased representation of women within the department, with over 9,000 women delivering exemplary services within the force. Additional IG Welfare said that security and protection of rights of all foreign nationals, including Norwegians, is a top priority of Punjab police. Norwegian Embassy's Second Secretary Ezra Kurtovic appreciated Punjab Police's effective initiatives for the protection of minority rights and community policing. At the conclusion of the meeting, there was an exchange of souvenirs between Additional IG Welfare and Finance, Riaz Nazir Gara, and Second Secretary of the Norwegian Embassy.
