Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif vision: Punjab Police intensified the crackdown for Drug-Free Punjab Campaign
297 raids were conducted on drug dealers' hideouts, 161 arrests, and 157 cases registered in one day: Punjab Police spokesman.
Under the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police's mission for a drug-free Punjab is rapidly progressing. Under the leadership of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, crackdown on drug dealers, distributors, and smugglers has intensified across the province, including Lahore. IG Punjab rsaid that 297 raids were conducted on drug dealers' hideouts in one day, resulting in the arrest of 161 suspects and the registration of 157 cases. Police teams seized 72 kilograms of charas, 4 kilograms of heroin, 2 kilograms of Ice, and 1,372 liters of alcohol from the possession of accused.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar further said that since the anti-narcotics operations commenced on February 26, police teams have conducted 34,781 raids, arrested 16,674 suspects involved in drug trafficking, and registered 16,221 cases. Seizures from these operations include 9,663 kilograms of charas, 171 kilograms of heroin, 269 kilograms of opium, 53 kilograms of ice, and over 1.687 million liters of alcohol. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed RPOs and DPOs to intensify anti-narcotics operations, particularly against those poisoning educational institutions with drugs. He also emphasized the need for regular targeted operations against suspects involved in online drug sales and the necessity of bringing those involved in inter-provincial smuggling to the justice.
