World Anti-Drug Day: IG Punjab vows to fulfill Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's vision "Drug Free Punjab"

It is a day of renewed commitment to end the scourge of drugs, protect the youth from deadly threats, IG Punjab

This year, more than 33,000 raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers, 16,000 suspects were arrested, and more than 15,500 cases were registered, said Dr. Usman Anwar.

On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar reiterated his commitment to fulfilling Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz's vision of a 'Drug-Free Punjab'. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that this day is to renew our pledge to eradicate the scourge of drugs from its roots and protect the young generation from deadly dangers, Punjab Police will leave no stone unturned in uprooting the menace of drugs. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted that this year, more than 33,000 raids were conducted on drug dealers' hideouts across the province. Over 16,000 suspects involved in the illicit business were arrested, and more than 15,500 cases were registered. Dr. Usman Anwar mentioned that more than 9200 kilograms of charas, 160 kilograms of heroin, 45 kilograms of Ice, 269 kilograms of opium, and over 1.674 million liters of alcohol were seized from the possession of drug dealers.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that within the past 24 hours, 281 raids were conducted across the province, including Lahore. During these raids, 146 suspects involved in the toxic trade were arrested, and 141 cases were registered. From the suspects' possession, 99 kilograms of charas and 1,747 liters of alcohol were also recovered. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that Punjab Police has intensified operations against the buying and selling, and trafficking of drugs, dealers and smugglers involved in the supply chain and online buying and selling are being brought to justice. IG Punjab further said that drug trafficking is being eradicated from the root in the vicinity of educational institutions, hostels, hotspot areas and the perimeter will be further tightened against large crocodiles involved in inter-district and inter-provincial trafficking.
