LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has initiated another commendable steps for the welfare of police personnel and their families. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, Punjab Police distributed more than Rs70 million to children of police employees affected by various diseases and families of police officials. DIG Welfare, Ghazi M Salah ud din, said that over Rs1 crore 63 lakh have been provided to 545 children affected by cerebral palsy, while 66 lakh rupees have been disbursed to 148 children suffering from thalassemia. Under the "Hamare Phool Project," these children are receiving a monthly allowance of Rs15,000. DIG Welfare further mentioned that maintenance allowances have been paid in advance to 1,195 families of police employees who passed away during service, totaling over Rs4 crore 70 lakh. This includes maintenance allowances and medical treatment expenses paid in advance. Police officials expressed gratitude to IG Punjab for the timely disbursement of welfare funds. Dr. Usman emphasised that the police force is a family, all member sharing joys and sorrows together and the purpose of disbursing welfare funds in advance is to provide timely relief to police force.
