Punjab Police ensured foolproof security arrangements for christian prayer programs in churches across the province, including Lahore, on Sunday. SPs & supervisory officers personally checked the security arrangements at churches and key Christian sites. Police teams remained on high alert, with additional personnel and snipers deployed at sensitive churches.
Earlier, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar had instructed RPOs and DPOs to increase security at churches. IG Punjab instructed that Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite teams conduct effective patrolling around churches. Officers and personnel deployed for security should remain highly alert and keep a close watch on suspicious elements. Search and sweep operations should continue around churches, Christian communities, and sensitive locations. IG Punjab emphasized that religious scholars, the Christian community, and members of peace committees should promote interfaith harmony. Dr. Usman Anwar said that Punjab Police has established "Meesaq Centers" to prioritize the resolution of issues faced by the Christian community and other minorities, providing them with preferential policing services.
