Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's directive: Punjab police intensified the crackdown to eradicate the menace of drugs,

Following the instructions of chief minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Punjab police has intensified the crackdowns against drug peddling across the province. In a single day, 313 raids were conducted by police teams in Lahore and across the province, resulting in the registration of 156 cases against culprits involved in the illicit drug trade. 160 accused were apprehended and seized, including 70 kilograms of charas and 1,960 liters of alcohol.

Punjab Police spokesman said that over the past three months, more than 28,000 raids have been conducted on drug dens across the province. During these operations, 13,252 cases were filed against drug peddlers, leading to the arrest of 13,862 accused. More than 8300 kg of charas, more than 40 kg of the most dangerous drug Ice, 145 kg of heroin, 267 kg of opium and 1646416 liters of alcohol were also recovered from the possession of these accused. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered the acceleration of anti-drug operations throughout the province, emphasizing collaborative operations with ANF and other govt. agencies. IG Punjab further directed that smugglers, dealers, and suppliers involved in the drug trade be apprehended and brought to justice, ensuring strict punishments in accordance with the law.
