LAHORE: Police said they had recovered a trader from his captors and arrested five suspects, including two police officials, involved in a kidnap for ransom case. Trader Riaz’s brother-in-law Yasin had filed a complaint stating that Riaz had gone to meet a friend at a factory on Saggian Road but never returned. Yasin’s mobile phone was switched off, and later, his sister, Sania, received an anonymous call demanding a ransom of Rs10 million for her husband’s release. Shahdara police registered a kidnap case and formed a team which eventually recovered the trader and the ransom money. City SP Qazi Ali Raza stated that the suspects had chased the trader’s car, kidnapped him, and demanded a ransom. The family had paid the ransom, but the police team was able to recover the trader and arrest the suspects, including two policemen. The police said they would take strict action against the suspects involved in the kidnapping case. The arrested suspects include Usman, Ijaz, Umair, Najeebullah and Mehran.
