On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police has intensified the cracking down against electricity thieves. So far this year, 41024 cases have been registered against electricity thieves across the province including Lahore. 19709 culprits involved in electricity theft were arrested from across the province including Lahore. Spokesman of Punjab Police said that 23673 cases of electricity theft were challaned, similarly 2540 culprits who caused damage to the national treasury were punished and fined. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed to further intensify the crackdown against electricity thieves, IGP instructed that priority actions should be continued against the anti-social elements who caused damage to the national treasury.
