During last day, 288 raids on drug hideouts by police teams, 140 cases registered, 142 accused arrested, says Punjab Police spokesman

On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the crackdown in the Drug-Free Punjab campaign by the Punjab Police is ongoing across the province. Miscreants involved in the nefarious trade are being brought to justice. Under the leadership of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, targeted operations by police teams have been intensified across the province, including Lahore.  Punjab Police spokesman said that in a single day, police teams conducted 288 raids on the hideouts of drug dealers, registering 140 cases and arresting 142 suspects. From the suspects, 87 kilograms of charas, 12 kilograms of opium, more than one kilogram of ice, and 1681 liters of alcohol were recovered. Punjab Police Spokesman further mentioned that since the commencement of the Drug-Free Punjab campaign on February 26, a total of 25,012 raids have been conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers. 11,619 cases have been registered and 12,186 suspects have been arrested. Recovered from the suspects were 7,556 kilograms of charas, 122 kilograms of heroin, over 266 kilograms of opium, 37 kilograms of ice, and 148,269 liters of alcohol.  IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has directed the intensification of the crackdown to eradicate the evil of drugs from its roots, ensuring the elimination of hotspots and drug dealers through effective use of modern technology and human intelligence. IG Punjab has directed that culprits involved in the business of modern flavored drugs should be brought to justice through intelligence-based operations and given strict punishments.
