Punjab Police is ensuring strict compliance on Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Drug Free Punjab campaign and under the direction of IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar intensified crackdown of the Police team is continuing across the province to eradicate the scourge of drugs. During the last 24 hours, 313 hideouts of drug dealers were raided across the province including Lahore. 142 accused involved in nefarious drug trade were arrested and 139 cases were registered. One kg of the most dangerous drug Ice, 61 kg of charas, 1235 liters of alcohol were recovered from the possession of the accused.

Spokesman Punjab Police further said that during the ongoing Drug Free Punjab campaign since February 26, a total of 23,603 raids have been conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers. 11536 accused involved in nefarious business were arrested while 10997 cases were registered. 7236 kg of charas, 37 kg of ice, 120 kg of heroin, more than 250 kg of opium and 140866 liters of alcohol have also been recovered from the possession of the accused. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar while instructing the RPOs, DPOs to self-monitor the anti-narcotics operations said that action should be expedited against the suspects involved in the online business of flavored drugs. IG Punjab further said that targeted operations around educational institutions and hostels should be continued on a daily basis, all the accused involved in the supply chain, including smugglers and dealers, should be brought to justice and severely punished.
