Under the direction of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) is actively serving the citizens on the highways in the form of smooth flow of traffic on all roads of the province, compliance with laws and protection of life and properties of citizens. Punjab Highway Patrol Headquarters has released the weekly performance report. According to the details, in the last seven days, PHP checked 673 thousand 349 people through e-Police Post App on all the roads of the province including Lahore. During checking, 163 proclaimed offenders/judicial fugitives were arrested, 24 cases were registered for the use of illegal weapons, 613 liters of alcohol and 1315 grams of charas were recovered from drug dealers.3 lakh 46 thousand 163 vehicles were checked on the highways, 47 stolen vehicles/motorcycles were recovered. Under the road safety campaign, 62 thousand 858 e-challans were issued for violations of traffic rules, 29 thousand 996 overloaded vehicles were challaned for violation of axle load management and deposited an amount of two and a half crore rupees in the treasury as fines for violation of laws.
Spokesman of Punjab Police said that legal action was taken against 332 vehicles for illegal use of gas cylinders, 3170 driving licenses were issued for the convenience of citizens, 17 missing children were reunited with their parents, 83 temporary and permanent encroachments were removed and traffic flow was improved. PHP provided help and guidance to 1903 passengers on the roads while various facilities were provided to 1334 citizens at the PHP khidmat centers. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar appreciated the good work of Punjab highway patrol and directed them to perform their duties with the high spirit of service and protection. IG Punjab said that measures should be continued under the comprehensive strategy for the protection of lives and properties of citizens and safe travel on the roads.
