Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's directive: Drug Free Punjab Campaign continues
During the last 24 hours, raids were conducted on 299 hideouts of drug dealers across the province, 120 accused were arrested, 117 cases were registered, Spokesman of Punjab Police.
On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police's Drug Free Punjab campaign is going on across the province and under the supervision of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, the targeted operations of Police teams are going on to eradicate the scourge of drugs. Spokesman of Punjab Police said that during the last 24 hours raids were conducted on 299 hideouts of drug dealers across the province including Lahore and 117 cases were registered while arresting 120 suspects involved in the heinous drug trade.38 kilos of charas, 02 kilos of heroin, half kg of opium, 1434 liters of liquor have also been recovered from the possession of the accused.
According to the spokesman of Punjab Police, 21445 raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers during the Drug Free Punjab campaign in the last two and a half months. 9986 cases were registered while arresting 10505 accused involved in heinous business. 6647 kg of charas, 34 and a half kg of Ice, 118 kg of heroin, more than 221 kg of opium and 130651 liters of liquor have also been recovered from the possession of the accused. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed that the RPOs, DPOs should supervise the anti-narcotics operations themselves and intensified the operations against the accused involved in the online drug business. IG Punjab further said that targeted operations should be continued in coordination with ANF, other relevant departments amd all the accused involved in the supply chain of drugs including smugglers and dealers should be brought to justice and given strict punishments.
