To protect the young generation from the menace of drugs, Punjab Police accelerated the crackdown to wipe out the drug dealers, smugglers.

During the last 24 hours, 447 raids, on the hideouts of drug dealers across the province, including Lahore, 206 cases have been registered and 209 suspects have been arrested: spokesperson of Punjab Police said.

Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the drug free Punjab campaign is going on and Punjab Police is engaged in cracking down on drug dealers, smugglers to protect the young generation from drug addiction. Spokesman of Punjab Police said that intelligence-based operations are going on rapidly by police teams across the province, including Lahore, to root out the menace of drugs and during the last 24 hours, 447 raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers across the province, including Lahore, 206 cases were registered against the suspects involved in the supply chain of drugs and 209 suspects were arrested.

151 kg of charas, half kg of ice, 05 kg of heroin, 01 kg of opium and 2270 liters of alcohol have also been recovered from the possession of drug dealers. Spokesman of Punjab Police further said that during the last 37 days, 10745 raids were conducted on the hideouts of drug dealers and 5289 cases were registered against drug dealers and while arresting 5690 suspects, 3991 kg of charas, 22 kg of ice, 72 kg of heroin, 177 kg of opium and 65556 liters of alcohol were recovered from the possession of the accused. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar issued orders to the RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to speed up the operations against the elements selling drug poison. IGP Punjab directed that all the accused involved in the drug supply chain should be arrested and punished and anti-narcotics operations especially around educational institutions and hostels should be accelerated.
