On the instructions of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab Police is conducting a strict crackdown against kite flying across the province, in continuation of which, 130 cases were registered and 155 people were arrested for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act in the last 24 hours. While more than 02 thousand kites, 129 metal string wheels were recovered from the possession of the accused. Spokesman Punjab Police said that 60 lawbreakers were arrested in the provincial capital yesterday while registering more than 50 cases, More than 600 kites and 50 string wheels were recovered from the possession of these accused. Regarding the overall crackdown of 2024 this year, the spokesperson of Punjab Police revealed that till now 7777 cases have been registered against kite flyers across the province and 8205 people have been arrested. 370459 kites, 17687 string wheels have been recovered from the possession of the accused. In Lahore this year, 1452 cases were registered for violating the Kite Flying Act, 1494 accused were detained, more than 27 thousand kites, 4500 metal strings and wheels were recovered from the possession of the accused.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed RPOs, DPOs to take indiscriminate action against the accused involved in kite flying, sale and manufacturing. IGP Punjab said that online sellers of kites and strings should also be brought to justice. IGP Punjab stressed that comprehensive measures should be continued to provide protection to human lives while the accused involved in these crimes should be given strict punishments through courts.
