Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's directives, Punjab Police intensified the crackdown against the menace of drugs.
In the crackdown starting from 26th February, 2437 raids were conducted, 1102 cases registered, 1484 accused arrested, IG Punjab
1126 kg charas, 05 kg Ice, 34 kg of heroin, 33 kg opium, 12953 liters alcohol were recovered from the possession of the accused.
On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the crackdown of the Punjab Police has been accelerated across the province to eradicate the scourge of drugs. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that under Punjab Govt.’s Youth Engagement Program, intelligence-based operations are ongoing to keep the young generation safe from drugs, in continuation of which, during the last 24 hours, 383 raids were conducted at the hideouts of drug dealers in various places across the province including Lahore. 253 drug dealers were arrested and cases were registered against them while 216 kg of charas, half kg of ice, 02 kg of heroin, 33 kg of opium, 2804 liters of alcohol have been recovered from the possession of drug dealers.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that 2437 bases of drug dealers were raided in the crackdown that started from February 26. In 24 days, 1102 cases were registered against the accused involved in the sale and supply of drugs, 1484 accused were arrested. IG Punjab said that 1126 kg of charas, 05 kg of ice, 34 kg of heroin, 33 kg of opium, 12953 liters of liquor were recovered from the possession of the accused. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed that RPOs, DPOs to personally supervise the crackdown against the menace of drugs. IGP Punjab directed that accused involved in heinous business around educational institutions should be immediately arrested and punished. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that as per the orders of Chief Minister Punjab, operations will continue on a daily basis to eradicate the menace of drugs.
